The Heart of the Theatre Community

Krista Grimmett-Adams, Founder

The DC area has been my home for so many years. I was born right in the city, spent my elementary school years in Dale City, Virginia, attended high school in Manassas, and went to college at the real HU — not Howard, but Hampton University — in Hampton, Virginia! In any case, the DMV is what I consider home, and I love it here.

In our area, positive thinking should be our way forward, especially during these challenging times. I believe it’s more important than ever to support art and literature in society. They are part of who we are and help drive understanding, compassion, and empathy.

The DC area is home to many great theaters, such as Woolly Mammoth, Studio Theatre, Arena Stage, Signature Theatre, Olney Theatre, and even now, the Kennedy Center. But did you know about the plethora of amazing, intimate theatrical spaces currently staging spectacular, impactful, and memorable productions throughout the DMV? I’m talking about professional venues like MetroStage, Workhouse Arts Center, and Creative Cauldron, as well as community theaters like Laurel Mill Playhouse, The Little Theatre of Alexandria, and Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre.

These wondrous spaces allow you not only to experience the magic of theater but also to feel like a true part of your community. I invite you to join me in exploring how our theaters help shape the communities we live in and connect us all through their art!
